The Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) held it’s 21st Annual Conference on November 3rd and 4th 2022.
The Conference themed “Firing Forward: The Future in Focus” was held at Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Keynote Address which was taken by Award Winning Author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was inspirational and it encouraged the women in attendance.
Adichie told the women to live beyond self- doubt, as a way of putting in effort and to become accomplished in life.
Other Speakers at the Conference were President/Founder of Salice Demuren Foundation, GTBank’s first female Chairman as well as the first female Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Osaretin Demuren as Conference Chairperson, C.O.N, Hon. Commissioner of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Cecilia Bolaji Dada.
The WIMBIZ Executive Director (ED), Hansatu Adegbite, WIMBIZ said in an interview that they have developed valuable partnerships over the years and they are currently operating with a leaner structure due to the era of the leadership transition of the organisation.
The ED also emphasized that partners such as sponsors, donors, media partners, stakeholders as well as WIMBIZ Associates,and Life Members are critical to the continued vision attainment of the organization.
She mentioned as well that over the last 20 years, key learnings from past conferences on diverse gender-focused initiatives, cutting across business, economy, social sector, politics, and equal opportunities have helped in inspiring more women to attain leadership positions as well as build key partnerships.
Also, delegates participated in WIMBIZ’s signature debate, deep dives, plenary sessions, and sneaker afterparty.
