This year, Children’s Day will be exciting and different. 9ijakids in partnership with STEM-METS and EduFun Technik are organizing a Virtual STEAM Fest for 1,000 children between the ages of 7-13 years as part of the 2021 Children’s Day activities.
In case you are wondering what a virtual STEAM fun fest is, it is on online webinar to get children excited as they experience the opportunities and careers the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEM) has to offer.
The pandemic happened in 2020, and it reinforced the fact that STEAM will play a key role in the sustained growth and stability of the Nigerian economy. It has become a critical component to helping Nigeria win the future. It is estimated that 80% of secondary school students are unaware that they have what it takes to be great and successful in STEAM subjects. The future is digital and we need to help children harness their future potential by investing today in STEAM education. The gift of skills for future employment is the best gift this generation can hand to the next. We owe it to them!
Titi Adewusi, one of the Co-founders of 9ijakids stated that there is a need for STEM education be to given priority and it should start during the foundational years – primary school. The organisers of the STEM Fun Fest hope to “spark” a love for STEAM through education, fun activities, and career talks.
The 2-hr virtual webinar for kids aged 7-13 will include fun, engaging STEAM workshops, short talks from kids doing amazing things in STEAM, STEAM games, etc.
The children will have the opportunity to feed their minds with hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities and discussions at the Children’s Day STEM Fun Fest.
The event promises to be a fun and educative experience for every child.
The free event is scheduled to hold online via Zoom from 12a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration for STEM Fun Fest is free.
